The UK new car market is up 3% year-on-year in February to 68,736 registrations, marking 24 consecutive months of year-on-year gains! The year-to-date total now stands at 223,298 units, up 6% on 2013. No surprise in the models sales charts: the Ford Fiesta continues to be the favourite choice of UK consumers thanks to sales up 21% on February 2013 to 4,415 units and 6.3% share. It is followed this month by the Vauxhall Corsa (-2%) and Astra (+24%), passing the Ford Focus and VW Golf, both down a harsh 33% year-on-year.
The VW Polo is down one spot on January to a still very satisfying 6th place, also the rank it holds year-to-date vs. #8 in 2013. The big event this month is the return of the Mercedes C-Class among the 10 best-selling models in the UK for the first time since March 2013, up to a fantastic 7th place with 1,231 sales and 1.8% share (its best ranking here since September 2012), due to the current generation now in full runout mode before the arrival of the 2014 model pictured above. The Vauxhall Insignia is also back inside the Top 10 at #8 while the Audi A3 is down two spots to #9.
MG3. MG sales are up 422% in February…
Brand-wise, below the traditional trio Ford (-1%), Vauxhall (+4%) and Volkswagen (-16%), Audi is up a gigantic 41% year-on-year in 4th place, Citroen is up 10% to #9, Toyota up 19% to #11, Skoda up a fantastic 33% to #12, Fiat up 20% to #15 and Mazda up 32% to #17. Dacia is up 465% so far in 2014, keeping in mind the brand launched here in January 2013. Could MG finally be kick starting again? The Chinese-owned English brand is up 422% in February and 363% year-to-date…
