New car sales in Argentina are down 8% year-on-year in February to 57,967 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 166,683 units, down 3% on 2013. Volkswagen remains the most popular brand in the country with 10,485 sales and 18.1% share ahead of Renault (15%), Ford (13.2%), Fiat (12%) and Peugeot (11.5%) while Chevrolet, traditionally #3, tumbles down to #6 and 9.4% share. For the first time, the Ford Fiesta Kinetic is the best-seller in Argentina thanks to 2,703 sales and 4.3% but it’s the VW Gol Trend, #2 at 2,629 units and 4.3%, that takes the lead year-to-date with 5,884 sales and 3.5%.
So far in 2014 the Gol Trend is above the Toyota Hilux (3.3%) and Ford Ecosport (3.2%), leader in January but down to #9 this month. Excellent performance of the Peugeot 208 up 3 spots on January to #3, the Renault Clio Mio is back up 6 ranks to #4 while the VW Suran is up two to #6. The VW Amarok resists at #11 whereas the Chevrolet Classic, #1 in 2013, is stuck at #12 and #16 year-to-date… The Toyota Etios progresses to #13, the Renault Nuevo Logan ranks #18,
