New vehicle sales in Canada are up a healthy 5% year-on-year in May to 185,332 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 712,793 units, up 2% on 2012. While the Ford F-Series delivered its 2nd best-ever monthly volume in the country last month at 12,016 sales, it improves further in May to 12,740 units which is getting closer to the all-time record of 14,458 hit in April 2009. Ford has sold 50,626 F-Series in Canada alone so far in 2013, that’s 19% better than the 2012 figure which was already an all-time record for the pick-up truck!
Same story for the Dodge Ram, beating its 8,090 April sales tally to hit 8,284 units, up 23% year-on-year and potentially a new all-time record for the model in Canada! The Hyundai Elantra cements its advantage over the Honda Civic in the Passenger Cars ranking and rounds up the overall podium with 6,268 sales, up a huge 36% year-on-year and its strongest monthly volume in at least 3.5 years… while the Civic is down 4% at #4, the Toyota Corolla is up 20% at #5 and the Ford Escape up 22% to #7. Notice also the Toyota Camry up 21% to #16.
