Excellent month for new car sales in Saudi Arabia once again, up 12% year-on-year in February to 62,284 registrations which brings the year-to-date total to 121,583 units, up 14% on 2012. Note my source is slightly different for all Middle-Eastern countries this month so there will be some little differences. First neither Mercedes nor Renault have reported sales for the region this month so they don’t appear in the ranking. Passed by the Toyota Corolla last month, the Toyota Hilux is back to its traditional pole position in February with 5,224 sales and 8.4% vs. 4,907 and 7.9%, even edging past the Corolla year-to-date at 10,019 units vs. 10,016…
The rest of the Top 9 is absolutely identical to the January ranking, talk about a stable market! Both the Hyundai Elantra (6.5%) and Accent (5.5%) lodge stronger market share, the Toyota Yaris is down 4.8%, the Camry up to 4.7% and the Hyundai Sonata stable at 3%. The Chevrolet Tahoe is up 10 spots and doubles its market share vs. January at #10 and 2.6%, the Honda Accord is up 8 to #15, the Ford Econoline appears at #17, the Toyota RAV4 is up 14 to #18, Toyota Aurion up 28 to #32, Chevrolet Trailblazer up 40 to #50 and the Hyundai Genesis is up 34 to #51.
