Completely oblivious to the surrounding crisis that has engulfed the European car market, new car sales in the UK celebrate 12 consecutive months of year-on-year growth in February: up 8% to 66,749 registrations and bringing the year-to-date total to 210,392 units, up 10% on 2012. Even better: private sales enjoy their 14th month in a row of year-on-year growth, up a whopping 29% this month… In this euphoric context, the Ford Focus brilliantly manages to grab the top spot for the third time in the last 4 months thanks to 3,853 sales and 5.8% share, way above the 4.1% it commended over the Full Year 2012. Year-to-date though, the Ford Fiesta stays ahead at 11,561 units and 5.5% vs. 9,647 and 4.6%.
The Vauxhall Corsa is up one spot to round the podium while the VW Golf is up two to #4 and the Vauxhall Astra down two to #5. The Peugeot 208 maintains itself within the UK Top 10 for 2nd month running and the third time ever at #8 and the Mercedes C-Class is up one to #9, its 5th time in the Top 10 in the last 8 months. But the big event this month is potentially the Nissan Juke also holding itself within the UK Top 10 at #10 with 1,106 sales and 1.7%, making it the 2nd month ever it does so and another 2 Nissans in the Top 10.
