There are not too many people willing to buy a new car in Croatia these days: in January the market falls to the ground, down 48% year-on-year to 1,814 registrations. In this bleak context, Volkswagen retains the models pole position: after the Polo last month, it places the Golf at #1 for the first time since December 2011 with 88 sales and 4.9%. Boosted by the new generation, the Renault Clio is up 6 spots on December to a shiny 2nd place at 72 units and 4% while the Renault Megane is also in great shape, up 3 ranks to round up the podium at #3 with 69 sales and 3.8%.
But the best performance of the month is delivered by the Kia Sportage, up from outside the Top 20 last month and building on a record #11 spot in November to land at best-ever 5th position thanks to 56 units sold for a 3.1% market share. Other great performers this month in Croatia include the Hyundai ix35 up to #8 vs. #20 in FY2012, Opel Insignia up to #14, Chevrolet Cruze up to #17, Dacia Duster up to #19 and Dacia Sandero up to #20.
