The Croatian new car market is down an alarming 25% in 2012 to 31,360 registrations, to be compared with 88,265 in 2008, with December down 48%… Passed by the Skoda Octavia in 2011 for the first time partly thanks to police fleet orders, the Opel Astra is back in its traditional Croatian pole position in 2012 albeit with sales down a painful 28% to 1,237 units and 3.9% share. The Astra has now been #1 in Croatia 7 of the last 8 years. The VW Polo stays #2 at -35%, followed by the VW Golf up two spots but down 28%. Both Astra and Polo topped the monthly ranking 4 times.
The Citroen C4 is the only model in the Top 10 to gain ground, up 2% and 7 ranks to #4 and 967 sales, while the Skoda Octavia is down a horrid 57% and 9 spots to #10. The Chevrolet Aveo is back within the Croatian Top 20 thanks to the new model, up 13% to #11, the Kia Rio excels at #13 with 651 sales and 2.1%, and two all-new models make their appearance in the Top 20 this year: the VW Up! at #17, even ranking #1 in June, and the Peugeot 208 at #18 and reaching #1 in October… The Skoda Fabia (in March) and Hyundai i30 (in April) also topped the ranking this year.
