The Dutch new car market is all doom and gloom again in November, down 26% year-on-year to just 30,247 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 484,222 units, now down 10% on 2011. The Renault Mégane continues to evolve at levels not seen for any model in the Netherlands since the eighties, beating its market share record again at a round 10% this month thanks to 3,011 sales and taking full advantage of the subsidised pricing for its low-emission versions. After topping the Dutch ranking for the 6th time in the last 7 months, the Mégane finally takes the lead year-to-date at 19,699 units and 4.1% vs. 17,585 and 3.6% for the VW Polo, leader in 2011 but down to #8 this month.
In fact the podium is unchanged on October, with the Ford Focus at #2 with 1,325 sales and 4.4% (vs. #6 and 2.4% YTD) and the VW Up! solid at #3 with 1,241 units and 4.3% (vs. #4 and 2.5% YTD). The Peugeot 107 is back up 3 spots to #4 while the Peugeot 208 stays at a shiny 5th place and the Volvo V40 is down to a still fantastic #6 spot vs. #7 in its native Sweden… Notice also the Citroen C3 up 16 ranks to #9.
This month once again the Kolin sisters take the advantage over the Bratislava siblings: the Peugeot 107 (#4), Toyota Aygo (#10) and Citroen C1 (#11) add up to 2,419 sales and 8% (vs. 8.7% in October) while the VW Up! (#3), Skoda Citigo (#32) and Seat Mii (#35) are at 1,762 units and 5.8% (vs. 6.4%). Other great performers include the Toyota Prius+ at #18 (vs. #47 YTD) and the Opel Insignia up 24 spots to #21.
The Opel Ampera breaks into the Top 30 for the first time in any country in the world at #29 and 286 sales, its twin the Chevrolet Volt breaks into the Dutch Top 100 for the first time at #97 with 50 units, the Citroen DS5 up 24 to a magnificent #31 and the Ford B-Max lands at #58 with 133 sales.
