New car sales in Hungary soar 19.2% year-on-year in 1994 to 89.893 units. Opel beats the market with a 23% gain enabling it to take the lead of the brands ranking for the first time at 22.6% share, toppling Lada up just 5% but down to 19.5% share. Local producer Suzuki continues to improve with a stunning 31% year-on-year uplift but stays in 3rd place at 18.8% share. At the tail end of the Top 5, Volkswagen (+45%) and Renault (+64%) impress while Zaz (+206%) and Fiat (+144%) land the largest gains in the Top 10 in which they break into. Audi (+56%) and Hyundai (+52%) also shine but Nissan (-49%), Toyota (-41%) and Moskwich (-41%) struggle.
In 1995, the Hungarian market drops a harsh 24.5% to 67.860 registrations. Opel continues to dominate the brands ranking but drops a lot faster than the market at -33% to 20.1% share. Suzuki (-28%) owes its 2nd place to the imploding of Lada (-54%) losing over half of its 1994 sales. Renault (+21%) advances to 4th place, overtaking Volkswagen (-25%) while newcomer Daewoo lands directly at #6, holding just under 7% of the market. Fiat (+34%), Audi (+21%), Peugeot (+18%), Ford (+6%) and Hyundai (+3%) all go against the grain inside the Top 15, resulting in improved market shares. Dacia arrives at #27 with 66 sales.
