Italy 1979: Fiat 127 and 126 dominate

Over the first 6 months of 1979 the Fiat 127 is the most popular car in Italy by far with 150,169 sales and an imposing 18.1% market share. It would end up the year at 234,812 units. The Fiat 126, boosted by its recent facelift, follows at 88,601 units and 10.7%, ahead of the Fiat Ritmo at 82,128 sales and 9.9% and the Fiat 131 at 39,637 units and 4.8%.
The Ford Fiesta is the best-selling foreign model with 31,085 sales and 3.7%, reaching a 5th position which could be the highest rank achieved by a foreign model in Italy so far (if you know this for sure please comment!). The Renault 5 takes the 6th spot ahead of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Alfasud.
