Spain July 2016: Seat Leon, Ibiza and Dacia Sandero dominate

The Spanish car market slows down its growth in July: after gaining 21% both in April and May and 11% in June, it is up 4% this month to 107.930 units, the biggest July tally in Spain since 2009 (108.961). This lifts the year-to-date total up 11% to 734.679 sales after 7 months, the highest since 2008 (824.015). Thanks to sales up 23%, Opel reclaims the brands top spot it holds year-to-date at 8.097 units vs. 8.018 for Renault (+6%), 7.671 for Seat (+9%) and 7.574 for Peugeot (-3%). Volkswagen tumbles down 26% to 5th place, but Fiat (+33%), Dacia (+29%), Kia (+20%), Hyundai (+19%) and Volvo (+42%) shine in the Top 20. Notice also Suzuki (+103%), Jaguar (+58%) and Infiniti (+281%) sparkling among smaller brands.

Model-wise, the Seat Leon (+21%) is back to the pole position it holds so far in 2016, distancing the Seat Ibiza (+31%), Dacia Sandero (+37%), Nissan Qashqai (+14%) and Opel Corsa (+105%). The VW Golf (-33%) and Peugeot 308 (-11%) struggle but the Renault Captur (+27%), Hyundai Tucson (+525%), Dacia Duster (+56%), Renault Kadjar (+64%) and Kia Rio (+40%) impress. The Fiat Tipo shoots up 58 spots on June to #37 with the arrival of the hatchback and station wagon variants, the Seat Ateca breaks into its home Top 100 for the first time at #99, the Jaguar F-Pace is up 15 ranks to #112, the Alfa Romeo Giulia is up 42 to #130 and the Infiniti QX30 lands at #228.
