World 4 months 2013: Ford Focus #1, VW Golf up to #5

Now that we have explored in detail the Top 250 best-sellers worldwide for April, let’s have a closer look at the year-to-date ranking to see what has changed compared to last month. Firstly the Ford Focus manages to hold onto its YTD pole position thanks to another month at #1. It now leads the Toyota Corolla by nearly 12,000 sales at 366,119 units vs. 354,510. The arrival of the new generation Corolla may change this order soon however. The Hyundai Elantra (307,419) and Ford F-Series (271,848) keep their positions while the VW Golf is once again one of the two biggest movers in the Top 10: going from #7 after 3 months to #5 after 4 months thanks to 245,246 sales.
The VW Passat is stable at #6 but the Toyota Camry drops two ranks to #7. Helped by a fantastic month of April (#6), the Honda CR-V appears in the worldwide 2013 YTD ranking at #10 and 218,212 units, up from #13 last month. Other noticeable gainers in the Top 20 include the Suzuki Swift up 3 spots to #12, the Renault Sandero/Logan up 4 to #14 and Toyota Hilux up one to #15. Notice also the Wuling Hongguang sliding down the charts at #17 vs. #9 last month.
The Ford Escape/Kuga, inside the Top 20 in April, continues its progression YTD: it is up 6 ranks compared to last month at #26. The Toyota RAV4 is up 10 to #38, the Renault Duster up 9 to #40, the Fiat 500 up 13 to #94, Jeep Grand Cherokee up 12 to #97 and the Subaru Forester up 12 to #110. Impressive climb of the Ford Ecosport up 23 ranks to #168.
