Now that we have explored in detail the worldwide Top 250 best-sellers in March, it’s time to have a look at the year-to-date ranking and what changed since last month. The big event over the period is obviously the Ford Focus reclaiming the worldwide top spot away from the Toyota Corolla thanks to an out-of-this-world 111,640 sales in March, however given how tight the race for the pole position is, expect the world order to change a few more times before the end of the year. The Hyundai Elantra and Ford F-Series consolidate their 3rd and 4th worldwide positions thanks to a very solid month of March while the Toyota Camry is up 2 spots to #5 which is still one rank below its Full Year 2012 level of #4.

Honda Accord World March 2013Honda Accord

The VW Golf is the big mover in the Top 10, up 3 spots compared to the 2 months 2013 ranking to #7 at 177,824 sales: we can already see the effects of the 7th generation coming into place here. The Wuling Hongguang drops 3 spots to #9 while the Chevrolet Cruze reappears inside the worldwide Top 10 at #10 vs. #6 over the FY2012. The Ford Fiesta materialises its 6th place in March by gaining 7 spots year-to-date to now rank #11 which is now very close to its FY2012 level (#10).

Nissan Maxima World March 2013Nissan Maxima

Further down, the Honda CR-V is up 2 ranks to #13, the Honda Accord up 5 to #22, ChangAn Minibus up 4 to #27, Nissan Altima/Teana/Maxima up 9 to #29, Ford Escape/Kuga up 7 to #32 and the Nissan Qashqai up 9 to #38. Solid progression for the Dodge RAM as well, up 6 spots to #40 while the Foton Forland is up 10 to #45 and the Opel Corsa back up 23 to #55 which is however still nowhere near where it was in 2012 (#33).

Toyota Crown World March 2013Toyota Crown

The Nissan Juke gains 17 ranks to now rank #80, the Ford Transit is up 27 to #83, the Mazda CX-5 up 13 to #92, Daihatsu Cuore up 22 to #98, Chrysler 200 up 22 to #120, Ford C-Max up 19 to #135, the BMW 1 Series is up 53 spots to #138 but still far from the #86 it held in 2012 and the Toyota Crown is up 21 to #160 vs. #318 in 2012.
