South Korea February 2013: SsangYong Korando Turismo lands

Sales of local models are down 12% year-on-year in South Korea in February to 98,826 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 203,203 units, down 2% on 2012. The Hyundai Grandeur manages to hold onto the pole position for the 2nd month in a row and only the 5th time in the last 2 years with April 2011May 2011 and February 2012 thanks to 7,293 sales and 7.4%. The Kia Morning (aka Picanto) is up to #2, its best ranking since last August, at 6,917 units and 7% while the Hyundai Porter is down one spot on January to round up the podium with 6,860 sales and 6.9%.

Leader in 2011 and 2012, the Hyundai Avante is up 2 ranks on last month to a still shy 4th place at 6,853 units, followed by the Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe. Notice also the Kia K3 back inside the Top 10 at #8. Two new models make their first appearance in the South Korean ranking this month: the SsangYong Korando Turismo ranks 26th with 882 sales and 0.9% while the Chevrolet Trax lands at #31 at 637 units and 0.6%.
