Taiwan December 2012: Toyota Yaris and Honda CR-V impress

The Taiwanese new car market is up 12% year-on-year in December to 34,508 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 365,871 units, down 3% on 2011. The Toyota Corolla is still unbeatable: it ranks #1 for the 19th consecutive month in Taiwan with 3,589 sales and 10.4% share and logically finishes the year in pole position at 36,342 units and 9.9%. For the first time since last August and the 5th time this year, Toyota monopolises the Taiwanese models podium this month with the Yaris up 6 spots on November to #2 and the Wish up 3 to #3 .

The new generation Honda CR-V is a definite hit with Taiwanese consumers: it ranks #4 like last month thanks to 1,312 sales and 3.8% and finishes the year at #10. Other great performers this month include the Toyota Vios up 5 ranks to #6, the Honda Civic up 6 to #10, Honda Fit up 10 to #12, Ford Escape up 4 to #18 and the Lexus RX also up 4 to #15.
