Denmark October 2012: VW Up! just under 10%, Skoda Citigo #2!

The Danish new car market is up a very impressive 22% year-on-year to 15,216 units. This month the VW Up! reaches a world-best 9.7% market share thanks to 1,481 sales, reinforcing its 2012 leadership at 8,006 units and 5.6%, while Bratislava twin the Skoda Citigo is up 4 spots on September to a world-best 2nd place with 936 sales and 6.2%! The Seat Mii is also up one spot to #11 at 310 units and 2%, meaning all 3 Bratislava sisters deliver their best performance in the world in Denmark by far this month…
But the Kolin sisters are also in great shape: all 3 of them fit within the Danish Top 5 in October! The Toyota Aygo ranks #3 with 649 sales and 4.3%, followed by the Citroen C1 at 553 units and 3.6% and the Peugeot 107 with 542 sales and 3.6% also. The Kolin sisters therefore add up to 1,744 sales and 11.5% share in Denmark this month vs. a mammoth 2,727 and 17.9% for the Bratislava bunch…

I agree the Citigo is great value for money, but us British will pay £500+ to have a Volkswagen badge, even though Skoda came out top in a recent customer satisfaction survey

Excellent to see the Citigo get right up close with the up! Will be nice to see if it can overtake the overpriced up! – well, they are all built in the same factory, and £500+ is a lot to pay for a VW badge…….
Cars are very heavily taxed in Denmark, the cheapest Focus costs just under 27,000 Euros there, the UK price for the same car is just under 17,500 Euros, quite a difference, I think we are getting a bargain in comparision, also discounts are fairly generous here as well.
