The Danish new car market continues to buck the European gloomy context, with September sales up 0.5% year-on-year to 13,923 registrations which brings the year-to-date total to 128,493 units, up 1% on 2011. The VW Up! confirms the hold it now has on the Danish models ranking, finishing September in pole position again, and by far: with 1,003 sales and 7.2%, it has an almost 400-units lead over the #2 the Toyota Aygo, and therefore reinforces its 2012 year-to-date leadership to 6,525 sales and 5.1% share.

Skoda Citigo

The Up’s twins (aka the Bratislava sisters) also do wonders this month: the Skoda Citigo is up two spots to #6 with 495 units and 3.6% – this is the highest ranking it has reached so far in the world (equal with its native Czech Republic where it ranked #6 last month) and by far its strongest market share anywhere around the globe. The Seat Mii is down 5 ranks on August to #12 but with 271 sales and 1.9% Denmark is still by far its best country in the world – it is #114 with 66 units and 0.2% in Spain this month!

Seat Mii

All-in-all the Bratislava sisters add up to a huge 1,769 sales and 12.7% share this month in Denmark, and the Kolin sisters are beaten: in spite of all performing better than their year-to-date levels, the Toyota Aygo (#2 at 4.5%), Citroen C1 (#4 at 3.7%) and Peugeot 107 (#4 at 3.7%) add up to 1,656 units and 11.9%  - which is still absolutely outstanding. So yes, those two mini car families represent one in every 4 cars sold in Denmark this month!

Other great performers in September include the Kia Picanto up 3 spots to #3 and 4.4%, the Hyundai i20 up 15 to #8, the Peugeot 206+ enjoying a second wind, up 22 to #11 and now #19 year-to-date like in 2011, the Ford Ka up 14 to #15, the Audi A4 up 15 to #21, the Nissan Micra up 13 to #22, the Audi A3 up 19 to #28, the VW Touran up to #33 vs. #56 year-to-date and the Skoda Superb up 8 to #38.
