Thanks to Austin Rutherford I have now made Thai Pick-up sales a monthly fixture on BSCB. It is a great indication of the future success of these vehicles worldwide, straight from the country where they are all produced and available first. And no less than 50,285 new pick-ups were sold in Thailand in June, bringing the year-to-date total to 274,333. As usual the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max lead the way by far: the Hilux is at 20,028 sales for a 39.8% segment share while the D-Max sells 15,327 units at 30.5%, both share very close to their 2012 year-to-date levels. The Mitsubishi Triton rounds up the podium at 9.8%.
It seems like the amazing progression of the Chevrolet Colorado linked to the arrival of the all-new models is pausing, with the model still delivering a very strong 3,449 sales for a 6.9% market share, slightly above its 2012 level of 6.7%. It is below that we find the two performers of the month: the Mazda BT-50 is up to 3,125 sales and 6.2% vs. 4.6% in May and 4% year-to-date while its cousin the Ford Ranger is up to 2,354 units and 4.7% vs. 3.1% in May and 3% year-to-date.
Previous month: Thailand Pick-ups May 2012: Toyota Hilux above 40% share
Previous year: Thailand 2011: Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max maintain stranglehold
