The car market in Malaysia is down 7% year-on-year in April at 45,771 registrations, bringing the 2012 year-to-date total to 178,993 units, down 12% on 2011. Traditionally very stable, the Malaysian models ranking is no different this month with the Top 4 identical to last month and the 2012 year-to-date ranking: the Perodua Myvi leads at 14.5%, followed by the Proton Saga at 11.2%, the Perodua Viva at 10.1% and the Perodua Alza at 6.5%.

The Toyota Hilux new generation is up two spots to a brilliant 5th place with 2,683 sales and 5.9% while the big event this month is the arrival of the all-new Proton Prevé at #16 with 494 units and 1.1% share. Other great performers in April include the Honda Accord at #17, the Honda CR-V at #21, the Toyota Prius c up 20 spots to #22 and the Hyundai Elantra up to #26.
