Malaysia April 2011: Proton Saga leads the way
Malaysian consumers bought 49,065 new cars this month, bringing the year-to-date total to 202,773 registrations, up 7%. For the first time this year, the Proton Saga takes the lead of the ranking with 6,520 sales and a strong 13.3% market share. The Perodua Myvi keeps the 2011 pole position at 27,692 sales and 13.7%, now only 717 units above the Saga.
The Perodua Viva rounds off the podium as usual, albeit with a lower market share at 9.3%, followed by the Proton Persona, Perodua Alza and Toyota Vios. The Toyota Hilux continues to deliver solid numbers, up to #7 this month at 4.1% share, and the Honda Insight impresses again, up two spots to #12 and 1.5% share.
Other good performers this month include the Ford Fiesta at #22 (+4), the VW Golf at #31 (+5), the Mazda3 at #35 (+13) and the VW Polo, breaking into the monthly Malaysian Top 50 for the very first time at #48 with 140 sales and 0.3%.
