New car sales in Venezuela are in the green again, up 5% year-on-year in April to 9,908 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 43,152 units, up 22% on 2011. For the first time since November 2011, the Ford Fiesta is the best-selling model in Venezuela this month with 893 sales and 9% share, kicking the Chevrolet Aveo down to #2 at 813 units and 8.2%. The Aveo is still on top by far in the year-to-date ranking though with 5,943 sales and 13.8% vs. 2,995 and 6.9% for the Fiesta. The Ford F350 stays robust and rounds up the podium again.

Below the Mitsubishi Lancer in excellent shape at #4, government deliveries push the Toyota Land Cruiser up to #5 while the Ford Explorer excels at 5.5% share in 6th place. But the big event this month is the 7th position of the Dongfeng Pick-up, assembled locally and sold under the name Civetchi Pick-up! Selling no less than 499 units for a 5% market share, the Chinese commercial vehicle launched in January this year and is up 346% on its March sales figure, making Venezuela the latest Latin American country to succumb to the Chinese charms after BrazilUruguay, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Paraguay and Cuba.

according to this article. http://www.guiamotor.com/DetalleNoticia.aspx?noticiaId=89, cars sold and distributed by Venirauto ZGT Corporation (Chery) are not being reported monthly and cannot be tracked by CAVENEZ.

    Thanks,

Where are the Chery being assembled in Venezuela? Are they not being counted by CAVENEZ?

      Hi Luis,
CAVENEZ figures show Chery at zero for the last few months, so either it is not accounted for/shared by Chery or they have momentarily stopped production. Can anyone from Venezuela/in the know confirm please?
      thanks
      Matt
