In spite of the current economic climate in Europe, car sales in the UK are up 3% year-on-year to 142,322 registrations and up 1% year-to-date at 705,878 units. SMMT has revised its Full Year 2012 prediction up to 1.95 million units, a 0.4% progression over 2011. The Ford Fiesta is in command of the models ranking once again with 8,780 sales and a solid 6.2% share, ahead of the Vauxhall Corsa at 4.3% and the Ford Focus at 3.9%. Notice the Corsa passing the Focus year-to-date by just one unit to establish itself in second place.
Below the Vauxhall Astra back in shape at 3.3% share, the BMW 3 Series takes advantage of the new generation to gain 5 spots on last month and land in 5th position, its highest ranking in the UK since last August. After an absence of over 2 years, we welcome back the Fiat 500 in the UK monthly Top 10 at #10 with 2,600 sales and 1.8%, beating its archenemy the Mini. It is only the 4th time the Fiat 500 manages to rank within the UK Top 10 after October 2009 (#10), December 2009 (#9) and January 2010 (#10).

In the current scenario, its wise to go for diesel car and prudent to choose a Fiat multijet engine which is amongst the world’s most trusted small car diesel engine technology.
@coolcat We have a 10 plate 500 pop and have had no problems with it.As a VW owner was quite worried when my wife bought it,but it has been very reliable and saw out both winters with flying colours
Agree that it is great news to see the Fiat 500 appear in the top 10
I’m surprised to see the Fiat 500 in the top 10 – obviously people don’t read Auto Express where their 2012 Driver Power survey placed Fiat last out of all the manufacturers, based on reliability, running costs, dealer service, performance etc etc. I think the 500 was a lowly 81/100, reliability issues plaguing them still.
In the first quarter of 2012 the Golf was stronger than the Astra, but in april the Astra sold better. Perhaps Churchill has an internet-connection whereever he is now …
VW Golf, Polo??
In that case, Sir Churchill would be very proud if he could read this.
“sarcasm”.
The Qashqai are still huge in europe. This car is like Godzilla. It never breaks down.
Nice news for the sweet Fiat500 from UK, It deserve this!
