Argentina July 2026: Market down -31.2%, Toyota Hilux up 10.5%, Yaris Cross up to #5

The Toyota Yaris Cross (emerging markets model) breaks into the Argentinean Top 5.

Another mediocre month for new light vehicle sales in Argentina: down -31.2% year-on-year in July to 41,057 units. The year-to-date volume is now down -13.5% or almost 50,000 sales to 319,453. Toyota (-29.5%) is by far the most popular manufacturer in July with 17.3% share vs. 14.3% so far this year. Fiat (-37.2%) overtakes Volkswagen (-43.4%) for #2 while Ford (-15%) resists best in the Top 10 at #4. Renault (-61.8%), Jeep (-56.3%), Peugeot (-48.7%) and Nissan (-38%) all implode just as Citroen (-32.9%) and Chevrolet (-30.2%) match the market. Newcomer BYD slips outside the Top 10, down three spots on last month to #11. Changan (+8250%), Kaiyi (+683.3%), Jetour (+588.6%), Chery (+522.4%), Suzuki (+418.8%), BAIC (+159.5%) and DFSK (+112.9%) all post surreal gains below.  This month we welcome Leapmotor (#33) and Lynk & Co (#38).

Over in the models charts, the Toyota Hilux (+10.5%) defies the negative market and climbs to 6.8% share, one percentage point above its YTD level. The Fiat Cronos (-32.3%) and Ford Ranger (-28.4%) can’t do miracles and complete the podium like they did in June while the Ford Territory (+103.1%) continues to gear up and threepeats at #4. The new Toyota Yaris Cross advances four spots on June to #5, its best ranking so far. The VW Tera (+11890%) celebrates one year in market at #6, distancing three freefalling models: the Peugeot 208 (-51.7%), VW Amarok (-50.1%) and Toyota Yaris (-69.9%). The Renault Kangoo (+151.1%) and BAIC BJ30 (+3180%) make themselves noticed below. The 2nd best-selling recent launch is the Chevrolet Captiva (#23) above the Nissan Kait (#28), Citroen Across (#34) and BYD Dolphin Mini (#38).

Previous month: Argentina June 2026: Ford (+28.4%) defies sinking market (-13.7%)

One year ago: Argentina July 2025: Sales up 45.7% to best in 7 years, Toyota Yaris #1
