Saudi Arabia May 2026: Suzuki DZire takes the lead in market down -31.7%
The Suzuki Swift DZire is the best-selling vehicle in Saudi Arabia in May.
New light vehicle sales in Saudi Arabia drop a harsh -31.7% year-on-year in May to 45,338, bringing the year-to-date tally down -24.4% to 263,079. The Top 3 brands fall even faster than the market: Toyota is down -37.1% YoY to 27.1% share vs. 30.4% year-to-date, Hyundai falls -39.4% to 13.3% share vs. 13.9% and Kia is off -46.4% to 7% share vs. 7.8%. Suzuki (-1.2%) brilliantly contains its fall and climbs from #11 in April to #4 this month, overtaking Ford (-16.1%) and Nissan (-32.7%) among others. Jetour (+35.5%) once again defies the negative market to step into 7th place with 4.2% share vs. 3.3% so far this year. Chevrolet (+46.2%) also impresses at #10, as do GMC (+32%) and Haval (+14.9%) further down.
Model-wise, we have a new leader: the Suzuki Swift DZire (-1.9%) taking the lead despite a YoY loss. This is the first time the DZire has snapped the top spot in Saudi Arabia. The Toyota Yaris Sedan (+7180.8%) follows as it rallies back from paltry year-ago results and stays #1 year-to-date. The Toyota Camry (-33.6%) suffers in third place, and is the real winner here again when adding Camry HEV sales (-31.1%) counted separately, the nameplate holding 7.2% of the market. The Hyundai Sonata (+53%) and Kia Sportage (+180.4%) both stun to round out the Top 5. The Jetour G700 is the best-selling recent launch and the only one in the Top 50 at #33, followed by the Suzuki Across (#61), BYD Seal 7 (#62) and Jaecoo J5 (#63).
