Malaysia June 2026: Proton (+45.2%) outpaces Perodua (+23.2%), Honda City up to #5

The Honda City is the best-selling foreigner in Malaysia in June.

Exceptional month for new light vehicle sales in Malaysia, with June volumes up 25.4% year-on-year to 72,943. This way, the H1 2026 tally is up 3.9% to a record 409,310. Perodua (+23.2%) slightly trails its home market but remains at a dominant 37.7% share vs. 38.7% so far this year. Proton (+45.2%) lodges another stellar month but at 21.2% share it is well below its YTD level of 23.9%. Toyota (-0.4%) disappoints and closes out the podium ahead of Honda (+44.3%) and Omoda Jaecoo (+13.2%). Below, Mazda (+111.5%) and Jetour (+345.6%) surge ahead, with the latter breaking its ranking, volume and share records at #7 with 1,203 units and 1.6% of the market. Tesla (+59.3%) climbs into the Top 10.

Model-wise, the Perodua Bezza (+30%) reclaims the pole position it holds year-to-date off the Proton Saga (+34.7%) which still advances faster year-on-year. The Perodua Axia (+14.7%) and Myvi (+24.7%) follow, while the Honda City (+136.2%) makes its way up to a splendid 5th place, overtaking the Perodua Alza (+36.3%), Proton S70 (+65.4%) and X50 (+54.6%) among others. The new Perodua Traz (a rebadged Toyota Yaris Cross) is back up three spots on May to returns inside the Top 10 at #9. It is the best-selling recent launch in the country, distancing the Proton e.MAS 5 (aka Geely Xingyuan/GX2) at #14, the Toyota Yaris Cross at #15 and the Jetour T2 at #21.
