Colombia May 2026: Tesla Model Y threepeats at #1 in market up 42.8%
The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling vehicle in Colombia for the third month in a row.
It’s another fantastic month for new vehicle sales in Colombia, with May sales soaring 42.8% to 28,180. Taking into account that May 2025 was already up 33.1% on the year prior, this is truly an exceptional performance. The year-to-date tally is now up a smashing 48% to 128,783. Kia (+39.4%) remains by far the most popular carmaker in the country with 12.1% share, albeit well below the 13.6% it commands year-to-date. Toyota (+3%) rallies back up four spots on April to #2 but underperforms on its year-ago result when it was the market leader. Renault (+14.5%) is also soft at #3 while newcomer Tesla is down one rank to #4 with 8.3% share. It is now #6 year-to-date with 6% of the market. Strong performers abound, among them Suzuki (+77.8%), Chery (+264%), Changan-Deepal (+221.6%), BMW (+110.4%), Dongfeng (+104.2%) and GAC (+805.8%).
The newly launched Tesla Model Y threepeats at #1 with an ultra dominant 7.5% share, albeit down from the 8.5% it scored in April. The Mazda CX-30 (+21.5%) follows and ascends to #4 year-to-date. The Kia K3 (-11.1%) rounds out the podium ahead of the Kia Picanto (+221%) up 17 spots on April to #4. The Renault Duster Nacional (+34.1%) rounds out the Top 5 above the Kia Sportage (+1022.4%) and Chevrolet Onix (+84.7%) both in outstanding shape. The Kia Stonic (+255.1%) is up 18 ranks to fit inside the Top 10 for the second time in the past three months at #10.
