UK nations January 2026: Jaecoo 7 tops Scotland

I live in Scotland. The economy is still terrible here, everything is expensive, and Jaecoo offers something cheap that looks sort of premium in a GTA V kind of copycat way. Most of the public simply do not care about cars and care only about price and looks as their top priorities. Many have no idea it’s Chinese or what that represents, and really do think it looks cool. Chery have done a great job at flooding all media forms to promote it and at recruiting dealers amongst dealer groups already also selling established brands, so there’s an established consumer base already visiting those locations to buy at least something from a dealer they trust. These dealers are then flooded with stock from Chery, so they also can have a brand new Jaecoo or Omoda right now versus waiting months for more expensive competitors. Social media is full of people who are completely inept accepting delivery of cars with clear defects because they don’t know any better, or with models fast developing serious issues in the same way MG suffers (again, so many think MG is a 100% British brand still) with no sign of a steady parts supply. The Jaecoo buyers are people that know nothing about cars and don’t care to either, are less educated generally, and would’ve otherwise bought a 2-3 year old SUV of some kind cos they’ve been told by the media that SUVs look cool and fashionable but the Jaecoo gives them access to a brand new car at that price point, which carries a lot of weight still.
