Morocco April-May 2025: Peugeot, BYD among best performers again
BYD sales in Morocco are up 3672.7% in April and 713.6% in May.
In April, the Moroccan new car market shoots up 35.7% year-on-year to 18,149 units, divided into 15,740 passenger cars (+32.2%) and 2,409 light commercials (+76.8%). In the passenger car brands ranking, Dacia (+5.9%) trails the market to 20.1% share vs. 23% so far this year. In contrast Renault (+43.1%) catches up year-on-year but is at 14.3% share vs. 16.1% YTD. Hyundai (+35.8%) matches the overall growth rate above Peugeot (+31.4%) and Volkswagen (+63.9%). Audi (+46.9%) and Opel (+42.3%) also shine. The best performance of the month goes to BYD (+3672.7%) up 13 spots on March to record 12th place with 2.6% share. Omoda (#27) and Jaecoo (#38) both appear in the ranking.
In May, 22,407 new light vehicles found a buyer in Morocco, a stellar +40.3% year-on-year surge. This includes 19,999 passenger cars (+37.5%) and 2,408 light vehicles (+69.1%). Passenger cars are up 34% year-to-date to a round 78,000. Dacia (+42.2%) edges past the market growth rate to 22.9% share vs. 23% YTD, followed by Renault (+39%) and a very strong Peugeot (+85.8%) up one spot on last month to #3. Hyundai (+36.6%) and Volkswagen (+41.8%) round out the Top 5, distancing Opel (+50%) and Citroen (+4.2%). Skoda (-1.8%) endures the only year-on-year drop in the Top 10. As for Chinese carmakers, Changan (#16) passes BYD (+713.6%). Zeekr lands at #38.
