Hungary Full Year 2024: Suzuki Vitara back in charge in solid market (+13.9%)

The Hungarian new passenger car market spectacularly ends four consecutive years of decline in 2024 with sales up 12.9% to 121,607. When adding light commercial vehicles the performance is even better at +13.9% to 146,393. In the passenger car brands ranking, Suzuki (+29.3%) reclaims the top spot with 12.9% share, displacing Toyota (+2.8%) at 12%. Skoda (+3.6%) and Volkswagen (-2.5%) repeat at #3 and #4 respectively. Ford (+14.2%) advances to #5, toppling Kia (+1.3%). Nissan (+126.4%) and Hyundai (+47.9%) post the largest gains in the Top 10 while further down Renault (+72.3%), Tesla (+52.5%), Lexus (+35.1%) and Volvo (+24.8%) stand out. BYD appears at #22.

Model-wise, the Suzuki Vitara (+38.2%) reclaims the pole position for the firs time since 2021 and the 7th time in the past 9 years at 4.7% of the market. The Suzuki S-Cross (+11.2%) is knocked down to #2 while the Skoda Octavia (+8.7%) rounds out the podium like last year. Outstanding performance by the Nissan Qashqai (+148.9%) up 16 spots to #4. The Kia Ceed (-3.2%) and Toyota Corolla (-3.5%) both underperform, just as the Ford Transit Custom (+109%) advances 13 ranks to #8. Notice also the Ford Kuga (+111.4%), Suzuki Swift (+108.8%) and Nissan X-Trail (+163.3%).
