Indonesia November 2024: Toyota Avanza signs first win in over 2 years

The Toyota Avanza is #1 in Indonesia for the first time since September 2022.

The Indonesian new wholesales vehicle market is down a harsh -11.9% year-on-year in November to just 74,347 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -14.7% to 784,788. Retail sales drop -8.1% to 76,053 and fall -11.2% to 806,721. Toyota (-12.7%) matches the market and delivers a strong 36.3% share vs. 33.4% so far this year. In contrast Daihatsu (-26%) and Honda (-20.8%) both freefall, the former sinking to 13.5% share vs. 19.1% year-to-date. Below Mitsubishi (-12.7%) and Suzuki (-21.3%), newcomer BYD repeats at a record 6th place overall with 3.8% share. Over in the retail charts, Toyota (-11.2%) holds 34% of the market above Daihatsu (-17.9%) and Honda (-13.8%) with BYD remaining at #6.

The Toyota Avanza (+0.8%) is stable year-on-year and signs its first win since September 2022 but is stuck at #3 year-to-date. The Toyota Kijang Innova (-16.3%) is knocked down to #2, still comfortably holding onto the YTD top spot. The Honda Brio (-15.7%) is up one spot on last month to #3 but struggles year-on-year, whereas the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+84.8%) and Toyota Calya (+14%) impress. The Honda WR-V (+32.5%) is the only additional Top 10 member in positive at #10. The new BYD M6 is down two ranks on October to slip outside the Top 10 at a still impressive #11 while the Toyota Hilux Rangga is up to #24.
