Indonesia July 2026: BYD Atto 1 back up to #2

The BYD Atto 1 ends the month just 216 units off the top spot.

The Indonesian new vehicle market continues to rally back up in July with wholesales up 34% year-on-year to 81,115 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 18.9% to 517,742. Meanwhile retail sales progress 23.3% to 77,412 for the month and 12.8% to 511,514 YTD. Toyota (+14.5%) significantly trails the market growth and as a result sees its share thaw to 26.7% vs. 30% so far this year. Daihatsu (+35.2%) for its part roughly matches the overall growth rate to improve to 17.4% share. BYD (+181.3%) almost triples its sales YoY to land at a record third place, also reached in October and November 2025. Mitsubishi Fuso (+165.6%) and Hino (+135%) are also in great shape while newcomer Jaecoo stays at #8. Fellow Chinese Geely (+689.2%), Jetour (+413.6%), Xpeng (+356%) and MG (+315.9%) all post surreal gains. Retail-wise, Toyota (+4.1%) leads above Daihatsu (+13.6%), Mitsubishi (+25.5%) and Suzuki (+6.2%) while BYD (+85.4%) has to settle with 5th place.

Looking at the models ranking (wholesales), the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+40.1%) is the best-seller for the third time in Indonesian history, all happening this year (January and April). It ranks #2 year-to-date as it did over the Full Year 2025. The new BYD Atto 1 rallies back up 10 spots on June to land in 2nd place only 216 units off the pole position. This is the model’s best ranking since topping the charts outright last November. Leader last month and year-to-date, the Toyota Kijang Innova (-3.1%) falls to #3 ahead of the Toyota Avanza (+4.9%) and Suzuki New Carry Pikap (+32.3%). The new Jaecoo J5 is up one rank on June to #6.
