Netherlands July 2024: Kia Niro posts third win in past 4 months

The Kia Niro is the best-selling vehicle in the Netherlands in July.

The Dutch new car market drops -6.2% year-on-year in July to 26,836 units, with the YTD tally off -3.9% to 220,168. Kia (+10.2%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date with a splendid 13% share vs. 10.1% so far this year. Volvo (+257.7%) posts a surreal year-on-year lift to return to #2 with 9.4% share. Volkswagen (-48.3%) completely implodes at #5, while Toyota (-20.4%), Hyundai (-15.3%), BMW (-11.2%) also sink and Renault (-4.7%) limits its fall somewhat. Contrary to most of Europe, Tesla (+55.9%) is in great shape year-on-year but drops from #1 in June to #8 this month. It ranks #4 year-to-date vs. #8 over the Full Year 2023. Below, BYD (+293.8%) is up to a record 22nd place and MG (+110.3%) also rallies back.

The Kia Niro (+99.3%) doubles its sales year-on-year to secure a third win over the past four months with 5.1% share. It still ranks below the Tesla Model Y (+59.1%) year-to-date, with the latter falling to #3 for the month. The Volvo EX30 is up to a record 2nd place, also reached last April. Leader a year ago, the Kia Picanto (-30.8%) is down to #4 this month while the Hyundai Kona (+164%) continues to align spectacular gains to complete the Top 5. The Volvo XC40/EX40 (+135%) also signs a fantastic year-on-year evolution at #6 as does the Renault Clio (+83.6%) at #7.
