Slovakia April 2024: VW T-Cross cracks podium in market up 11.9%

The VW T-Cross ranks #3 in Slovakia in April.

The Slovak new car market climbs 11.9% year-on-year in April to 7,711 units, bringing the year-to-date volume up 7.1% to 31,102. Skoda (+12.1%) matches the overall growth but can only produce a 19.4% market share vs. 21.2% so far this year. Toyota (+24.4%), Volkswagen (+44%) and Hyundai (+14.4%) are all strong unlike Kia (-11.6%) rounding out the Top 5. Ford (+34.6%), Renault (+29.2%), Mercedes (+21.5%) and Dacia (+14.7%) all outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, notice Lexus (+88.3%) up to #15 and Volvo (+80.4%), MG (+234.5%) and Honda (+80.6%) all in splendid shape.

Over in the models charts, the Skoda Octavia (+20.3%) remains in first place above the Hyundai i30 (+106.8%). The VW T-Cross (+189.2%) manages th performance of the month, leaping up 12 spots on March to land its first ever Slovak podium finish at #3. It now ranks #13 year-to-date vs. #31 over the Full Year 2023. The nameplate’s previous best was #7 in July 2021. The Skoda Kamiq (+28.6%) also posts a solid month at #4, distancing three models in decline: the Skoda Fabia (-3.4%), Kia Ceed (-1%) and Sportage (-16.7%). The Toyota Proace City Verso (+783.3%) is up to #12
