Russia January 2024: Geely Monjaro repeats at #4, Lixiang up to record #8
Lixiang climbs the Russian brands charts.
New car sales in Russia gain 77.3% year-on-year in January to 80,212 units, yet this is 12.5% below January 2022. Lada (+26.4%) vastly trails its home market and sees its share thaw to 27.8%. The next 8 brands (!) are Chinese. Haval (+133.7%) is up to 12% share and Geely (+159.7%) is up to 11.2% while Chery (+59.5%) drops to 11%. Changan (+1547.5%) continues to evolve at much higher levels than a year ago while Chery fares Exeed (+52.6%) and Omoda (+124.8%) ensure the Top 7 brands are unchanged on December. Lixiang posts its 2nd ever Top 10 finish at a record #8 and 2.2% share with Tank just below. Kia (-43.4%) rounds out the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Lada Granta (-14.2%) is hit hard and falls to 12.7% share vs. 18.5% over the Full Year 2023, it is followed by the Lada Vesta (+1248.9%) catchiness up on lost time as its production was idled last year. The Haval Jolion (+173.9%) is down one spot on December and FY2023 to #3. Newcomer Geely Monjaro repeats at a fantastic 4th place overall with 4.5% share. The Lada Niva Legend (+59.5%) outsells its modern version the Lada Niva Travel (+9.2%) and ends the month at #5. The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (+739.4%) scores a surreal year-on-year lift with the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (+397.7%) and Omoda C5 (+96.4%) also impressive in the remainder of the Top 10.
