Cyprus Full Year 2023: Toyota Yaris repeats at #1 in surging market (+26.7%)

Based on data shared with us by our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, the Cyprus new car market surges 26.7% year-on-year in 2023 to 14,732 sales. Kia (+38%) keeps the brands lead and improves its share from 16.2% to 17.6%. Toyota (+2.8%) disappoints but stays in 2nd place with 12.4% of the market vs. 15.3% last year. Hyundai (+38.7%) overtakes Volkswagen (+2.1%) for third place with Nissan (+70.3%) scoring the largest gain near the top. Mini (+201.5%), Skoda (+93.8%), Audi (+31.9%) and Mercedes (+26.9%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Cupra (+335.9%) and MG (+272.7%) shine below.

Model-wise, the Toyota Yaris (+26.2%) repeats at #1 with an unchanged 6% share. It is the fourth time the Yaris is the best-seller in Cyprus (add 2018 and 2019). The Kia Stonic (+46.3%) leaps up three spots to #2 while the Hyundai Tucson (+33.9%) stays in third position. Outstanding year for the Mini Countryman (+242%) up no less than 13 ranks to end the year at #4. Three Kias follow, confirming the brand’s domination in this market. The Kia Rio (+68.8%) fares best, followed by the Sportage (+48.9%) and Ceed (+14.2%). The VW T-Roc (-19.7%) freefalls six spots to #8 with the Nissan Qashqai (+108%) and Kia Picanto (+10.9%) rounding out the Top 10.
