Colombia August 2023: Market off -39.1%, Mazda CX-30 threepeats at #1
The Mazda CX-30 is #1 in Colombia for the third consecutive month.
New vehicle sales in Colombia freefall once again in August at -39.1% year-on-year to just 14,874 units. The year-to-date volume is now off -30.7% to 118,889. Renault (-54.4%) loses more than half its year-ago tally but reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date. Toyota (-16.7%) resists in 2nd place, one sale above Chevrolet (-50.3%). Mazda (-20.3%) and Kia (-22.5%) are relatively solid and round out the Top 5. Nissan (-20%), Ford (-23%) and Foton (-32.6%) also fall slower than the market whereas Volkswagen (-50.9%) implodes. Below, Audi (+101.7%), Subaru (+55.4%) and Dongfeng (+52.9%) go completely against the market to sign the only gains in the Top 30.
Model-wise, the Mazda CX-30 (-16.3%) threepeats at #1 with a dominant 4.8% share vs. #9 and 2.6% year-to-date. The Renault Duster (-56.8%) is in great difficulty but still manages a 2nd place, also staying at #1 year-to-date. The Toyota Corolla Cross (-19.1%) advances one spot on July to #3 and ranks #2 so far this year vs. #12 over the Full Year 2022. The Chevrolet Onix (-54.8%) is also in a rut while Mazda places two models in the Top 5 with the Mazda2 (-28.1%) up two ranks on last month to #5. The Suzuki Swift (+98.4%) and Chevrolet Tracker (+9.7%) defy the market conditions with solid year-on-year gains.
