Czech Republic July 2023: Toyota (+58.4%), Kia (41.4%), Skoda (+40.1%) beat market up 19.7%

Toyota Yaris Cross sales are up 123.8% year-on-year in July.

New car sales in the Czech Republic rally back up 19.7% year-on-year in July to 16,090 units, keeping in mind July 2022 was off -26.9% on the year prior. We are therefore still evolving at historically low levels. The year-to-date tally is now up 17.2% to 131,638. Local behemoth Skoda (+40.1%) catches up on a particularly weak year-ago volume to reach 35.1% share vs. 35.5% so far this year. Hyundai (+22.3%) also beats the market at #2. In fact the entire Top 6 is unchanged on June and YTD. Volkswagen (+12.9%) is weak in 3rd place above Toyota (+58.4%), Kia (+41.4%) and Mercedes (+16.5%). BMW (+56.7%) is the only additional Top 10 carmaker to beat the market. Notice Dacia (-68.3%) imploding at #10. Below, Renault (+70.4%), Ssangyong (+238.9%), MG (+7667.7%!) and Suzuki (+113.1%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+100.1%) is ultra dominant with 12.2% share, almost three times the amount of the #2, the Skoda Fabia (+14.6%). The Hyundai i30 (+18.2%) is up three spots on June to #3 and 4.6% share vs. #7 and 3.6% year-to-date. The Skoda Kamiq (+51.4%) also impresses at #4 as does the Skoda Scala (+66.6%) whereas the Kodiaq (+12.3%) and Karoq (+7%) disappoint. The Hyundai Tucson (+36.1%), VW Golf (+109.2%) and Kia Ceed (+48.8%) close out the Top 10 in spectacular fashion. Below, the Toyota Corolla (+132.2%), Yaris Cross (+123.8%), Ssangyong Korando (+444.4%) and MG ZS (+6433.3%) stun.
