Ireland June 2023: Tesla holds 34.6% share
The Tesla Model Y holds 21.7% of the Irish market this month.
Irish new car sales soar 38.9% year-on-year in June to 2,991 units, leading to a H1 2023 tally up 18.9% to 77,498. In the brands charts, Tesla is up a staggering 25775% year-on-year to sign its first ever monthly win with a surreal 34.6% share. It sells almost three times the amount of any other carmaker in Ireland this month, but given June is always a very weak month volume-wise, it still ranks at a low #13 year-to-date. Toyota (+56.3%) and Volkswagen (+92.7%) are also very dynamic on the podium but they can’t sustain Tesla’s rhythm at 12% and 11.5% share respectively. Ford (+93.7%) also impresses at #4 whereas Hyundai (-70.7%), Skoda (-24%) and Dacia (-34%) freefall.
The Tesla Model Y (21.7% share) and Model 3 (12.9% share) completely dominate the models ranking with the best of the rest, the Hyundai Tucson (-80.5%) only managing 3.5% share. The Ford Focus (+546.2%) is also in outstanding shape at #4 ahead of the Toyota Yaris (+41.4%) and Dacia Jogger (-20.4%). The VW T-Roc (+625%), Toyota Yaris Cross (+227.3%) and VW ID.4 (+157.1%) also shine below while the Toyota Corolla Cross posts its first ever Top 10 finish at #9.
