Finland March 2023: Tesla Model Y signs first ever win, Toyota bZ4X up to #6, sales up 2.1%

The Toyota bZ4X is inside the Finnish Top 10 for the first time.

7,572 new cars found a buyer in Finland in March, bringing the market back into positive – just – at +2.1% year-on-year. The Q1 tally is down -3.3% to 20,700 units. Toyota (-12.1%) easily keeps the brands lead with 15.2% share despite a hefty fall. In 2nd place, Tesla (+113.6%) breaks its ranking, volume and share records all at once, confirming an exceptional month all across Europe. Volkswagen (+46.4%) is also in excellent shape at #3, distancing Kia (-6.2%) and Volvo (-18.9%) both in a rut. Audi (+35.1%) also vastly beats the market at #9 with BMW (+9%) and Skoda (+4.4%) also doing so but by much smaller margins. Citroen (+57.9%), Mazda (+49.2%) and Peugeot (+35.3%) shine below.

Over in the models ranking, the Tesla Model Y (+180.2%) lodges its first ever monthly win in Finland with an imposing 9.5% share. It distances the year-to-date leader, the Toyota Corolla (+11.6%). The VW ID.4 (+3800%!) makes it two BEVs on the podium and compensates for a particularly drab March 2022 volume. The Volvo XC60 (-3.1%) and Tesla Model 3 (+4.3%) complete the Top 5. Outstanding result for the new Toyota bZ4X surging to 6th place for its first Finnish Top 10 finish. The Skoda Octavia (+101.4%) doubles its year-ago volume at #9. Below, the VW ID.3 (+1957.1%), BMW 2 Series (+828.6%), Skoda Enyaq (+276.5%), BMW I4 (+164.5%) and Audi Q4 (+119.1%) stand out.
