Taiwan September 2022: Hyundai (+44.9%) best performer, market off -12.9%
Hyundai Venue sales are up 27.9% in September.
35,822 new cars hit Taiwanese roads in September, a -12.9% year-on-year drop. The year-to-date volume now stands at 311,581, off -6.7% over the same period in 2021. Toyota (-5.7%) resists better than the market to lift its share slightly to 29.9%, compared to 29.5% so far this year. Mercedes (-18.4%) rallies back up seven spots on August to land in 2nd place overall but loses share year-on-year, as does Honda (-22.2%) in third place. CMC (-7.8%) is up four ranks to #4 while the performer of the month, Hyundai (+44.9%) is up to 5th place which could potentially be a record ranking for the Korean manufacturer. All remaining Top 10 members fall heavily, with Ford (-39.7%) and Nissan (-35%) hit the hardest.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross (-1.9%) maintains its iron grip over the market with 9.2% share, followed by the Toyota RAV4 (-26.2%) back up 9 spots on last month to #2 but struggling year-on-year. The CMC Veryca (-2.5%) edges up one rank on August to #3, overtaking the Toyota Corolla (-31.2%) in bad shape. The Toyota Town Ace is up five spots to #5, distancing the Mazda CX-5 (+98.8%), Ford Focus (-36.3%) and Toyota Yaris (-23.1%). The Honda CR-V (-45%) and Nissan Kicks (-33.5%) close out the Top 10 in paltry fashion. Notice also the Hyundai Venue (+27.9%), Honda Fit (+77.9%) and Hyundai Tucson (+315%) all in outstanding shape below.
