Argentina September 2022: Renault (+66.5%) surges to #2 brand, sales up 8.4%
Renault lodges by far the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10.
34,562 new vehicles hit Argentinean roads in September, a 8.4% year-on-year uptick. The cumulative year-to-date volume now stands at 321,511, up 4.7% over the same period in 2021. Toyota (+6.4%) remains the best-seller in the country by a large margin at 18.6%, even though this is much less than the 19.9% it commands YTD. Renault (+66.5%) surges ahead and climbs two spots on last month to #2, overtaking Volkswagen (+7.8%) and Fiat (-7%), the latter in difficulty. Peugeot (+28.4%) and Chevrolet (+16.1%) are the only additional Top 10 members to beat the market, just as Mercedes (-13.5%) and Jeep (-5.6%) fall and Nissan (+3.5%) timidly edges up.
Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Cronos (-17.7%) remains ultra dominant, but at 7.8% share it is two percentage points below its YTD level of 9.8%. The Peugeot 208 (+138.5%) follows with a stellar year-on-year gain. In fact the Top 4 models are unchanged on August and YTD: the Toyota Hilux (-2.6%), in difficulty, and the VW Amarok (+45%), euphoric, follow. The Renault Sandero (+144.3%), Kangoo (+53.2%), Toyota Yaris (+50.6%) and Etios (+16.3%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10. The Fiat Pulse (#28) is the best-selling recent launch ahead of the Jeep Commander (#48) and Ford Maverick (#52).
