Finland May 2022: Toyota monopolises podium, Yaris Cross up to record #6, Skoda Enyaq in Top 10

The Toyota Yaris Cross is up to a record 6th place in Finland in May.

7,721 new passenger cars hit Finnish roads in May, a -19.5% year-on-year decline. The year-to-date volume now stands at 35,414, off -22.3% over the same period in 2021. Toyota (+12.2%) and Kia (+15.4%) hold onto the top 2 spots and both swim upstream with double-digit gains. In contrast, Volkswagen (-43.1%) and Skoda (-38.2%) are in complete freefall below. BMW (-0.4%) is stable with Mercedes (-14.3%), Peugeot (-14.7%) and Hyundai (-16.2%) also bettering the market while Volvo (-35.5%) and Ford (-33.6%) are incapable of doing so. Dacia (+329%), Cupra (+119.2%) outselling Seat for the third month in a row, Mitsubishi (+48.1%), Land Rover (+28.6%), Renault (+16.6%) and Lexus (+15%) also score splendid upticks further down.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+13%) tightens its grip further at 7.8% share vs. 7% so far this year. In fact Toyota monopolises the podium with the Yaris (-15.9%) and C-HR (+37.3%) in tow. The Kia Ceed (+87.4%) soars to 4th place while the Volvo XC60 (-40.7%) is in freefall at #5. The Toyota Yaris Cross is up three spots on last month to reach a record #6 while the Skoda Enyaq breaks into the Finnish Top 10 for the first time at #9. Only the Nissan Qashqai (-10.8%) manages to outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10, with the Volvo XC40 (-51.5%) and Toyota RAV4 (-41.7%) both imploding. The Kia Niro (+112.3%), Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (#12), Opel Astra (+339.1%) and Skoda Kodiaq (+20.7%) also impress below.
