Finland April 2022: Nissan Qashqai (+92.9%) up to # 2, Polestar 2 in Top 10, market dives -26.7%

The Nissan Qashqai is the 2nd best-selling vehicle in Finland this month.

6,288 new passenger cars found a Finnish home in April, that’s a -26.7% year-on-year drop. It leads to a year-to-date volume down -23.1% to 27,692. Toyota (-1.8%) easily retains the brands top spot with 18.1% share vs. 19.1% year-to-date. Kia (-16.8%) overtakes Volvo (-42.7%) to climb to #2 for the first time this year. Nissan (+67.7%) signs the largest gain in the Top 12 just above Opel (+67.3%), with the two being the only additional gainers. If BMW (-1%) and Hyundai (-7.9%) keep their fall to single-digits, Skoda (-55.7%), Mercedes (-39.8%), Ford (-38.5%) and Audi (-33.5%) are hit hard. Polestar (+2016.7%) is up five ranks on last month to a best-ever #13. Tesla (+71.4%) and Dacia (+11.8%) are the only other carmakers in positive in the remainder of the Top 30.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+38.5%) confirms it is by far the most popular vehicle in Finland with 8.3% of the market vs. 6.8% year-to-date. Thanks to the new generation, the Nissan Qashqai (+92.9%) climbs to #2, its highest ranking since October 2020. The Volvo XC60 (-39.6%), Toyota RAV4 (-34.1%) and Toyota Yaris (-43.4%) follow all in bad shape. In contrast, the Opel Astra (+297.4%) and Kia Ceed (+14.8%) sport significant gains. The Toyota Yaris Cross stays at #9 with an excellent 2.1% share, by far the best-selling recent launch in the country. The Polestar 2 (+2440%) makes a thundering entrance inside the Finnish Top 10 at #10. Below, the BMW X3 (+79.5%), VW T-Roc (+49.3%), Opel Mokka (+47.6%) and Skoda Kodiaq (+23.2%) all shine.
