New light vehicle sales in Qatar shoot up 25.6% year-on-year in March to 4,845 units. Toyota (+132.5%) is up spectacularly to reinforce its dominance of the market with 48.3% share. In fact the Top 4 brands are unchanged on the Full Year 2021 ranking, with Nissan (-49.5%) in 2nd place but in great difficulty, followed by Kia (+29.6%) and Mitsubishi (+13.2%). Lexus (+67.3%) is up 7 spots to #5 with Isuzu (+80.3%), Hyundai (+42.5%) and Suzuki (+30.4%) also outpacing the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Just below, Geely (+200%) triples its sales year-on-year to #11. Only Ford (+35.7%) manages to beat the market in the rest of the Top 25.

Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+378.3%) holds a stellar 21.4% of the market. It distances the Toyota Hilux (+110.1%) and Camry (+404.7%). The Lexus LX (+89.6%) and Toyota Corolla (+128.6%) complete a euphoric Top 5. In contrast the Nissan Patrol (-64.4%) freefalls to #6 but the remainder of the Top 10 all post at least double-digit gains, led by the Suzuki Swift Dzire (+433.6%), Kia Picanto (+78.6%) and Nissan Sunny (+71.4%) while the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+17.4%) can’t match the market growth rate. The Geely Coolray aka Binyue is the most popular recent launch (<12 months) at #22, ahead of the Chevrolet Groove aka Baojun 510 at #27, the Toyota Raize (#30), Geely Okavango (#54) and Ford Bronco (#68).
