Vietnam March 2022: VinFast Fadil leads, Toyota Corolla Cross up to #1 YTD

The Toyota Corolla Cross is now #1 year-to-date in Vietnam

According to VAMA, the Vietnamese new car market is up 19.5% year-on-year to 36,962 units in March, leading to a Q1 volume up 27.6% to 90,506. These figures climb to 47,502 (+18.5%) for the month and 115,904 (+23.7%) year-to-date when adding Hyundai and VinFast who report separately from VAMA. In the brands ranking, Thaco-Kia (+31.7%) retains the top spot with 18.4% share, distancing Toyota (+22.2%) and Hyundai (+3.8%) like in February. Mitsubishi (+46.5%) is up two spots on last month to #4, Honda (+45%) stays at #5 and VinFast (+49%) is up one to #6. Peugeot (+73.3%) and Isuzu (+29.6%) smile whereas Ford (-45.4%) cries.

In the models ranking, the VinFast Fadil (+95.7%) is back up 11 spots on February to return to #1 for the first time since last September. It knocks the Toyota Corolla Cross (+70.7%) down to #2 but the latter becomes #1 year-to-date. The Toyota Vios (+13%) stays in third position above the Hyundai Accent (-3%) and Honda City (+47.5%). The Kia K3 (+182.9%), Mitsubishi Xpander (+37.6%), Hyundai Santa Fe (+36.2%) and Mazda CX-5 (+36.2%) also shine in the reminder of the Top 10. This month we welcome the Hyundai Creta at #60.
