Kazakhstan Full Year 2021: Chevrolet and Cobalt take control in market up 26.5%

Kazakh new vehicle sales are up 26.5% to 117,589, the largest annual volume and first above 100,000 since 2014. Newly local assembler, Chevrolet (+190.3%) logically triples its sales year-on-year to hold 27.8% of the market vs. 10.8% in 2020. Hyundai (+27.3%) is knocked down to #2 while Toyota (+37.4%) remains third. Kia (+61.7%) is up two spots to #4 whereas Lada (-46.4%) implodes down three ranks to #5. All remaining Top 10 members bar GAZ (+23.3%) beat the market: Volkswagen (+67%) is the most dynamic followed by Nissan (+61.5%), Renault (+39.4%) and JAC (+36.1%). New launch Haval lands at #16.

Model-wise, Chevrolet also takes control and places the Cobalt (+200.6%) in pole position followed by the Chevrolet Nexia (+267.5%). The Hyundai Accent (+76.2%) rounds out the podium like in 2020. The Toyota Camry (+30.4%) is back up two spots to #4 while the Kia Rio (+43.5%) closes the Top 5 vs. #8 last year and the GAZ Gazelle (+26.4%) matches the market to gain five ranks to #6. The Hyundai Elantra (+57.2%) and Toyota RAV4 (+91%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Leader in 2020, the Lada Granta (-71.2%) freefalls to #15. The Chevrolet Equinox (#35) is the best-selling 2021 launch in Kazakhstan.
