Brazil November 2021: Chevrolet Onix reclaims lead, Fiat Pulse lands in market stuck at -24.8%
The Fiat Pulse has landed in Brazil.
There’s no real improvement for new light vehicle sales in Brazil: down another -24.8% year-on-year in November to just 161,027 units. This leads to a year-to-date tally up 3.7% to 1,780,906. Fiat (-22.2%) retains the brands pole position but is weaker at 19.1% share vs. 22.2% so far this year. The big event of the month is Chevrolet (-27.5%) being back online after months of serious disruption due to the microchip crisis. The American brand is up to #2 in November with 17.7% of the market vs. 11.7% year-to-date. It pushes Volkswagen (-36.8%) down to #3 while Toyota (-3.7%) resists very well and climbs up two spots on last month to #4. Hyundai (-22%), Jeep (-16.2%) and Renault (-24%) follow, all losing slightly less ground than the market. Nissan (+24.1%) and Chery (+63.4%) post the only two year-on-year gains in the Top 10. Below, Land Rover (+133.5%), Peugeot (+64%), Citroen (+132.1%), Mitsubishi (+12.1%) and BMW (+1.7%) are among additional gainers.
Over in the models ranking, the Chevrolet Onix (-34.7%) reclaims the top spot it held over the Full Year 2020 for the first time since February after having fallen to #63 in August. It still ranks at a paltry #8 year-to-date. The Fiat Strada (-11.2%) is up one spot on last month to #2, distancing the Chevrolet Onix Plus (-38%) up eight to #3 and the VW Gol (-18.3%) up six to #4. Leader in October, the Fiat Argo (-25%) follows the market and falls to #5 while the Hyundai Creta (+16.9%) hits a best-ever #6, also reached last May. The Chevrolet Tracker (-5.5%) is back up five ranks to #7, the Fiat Toro (-10.4%) while the Jeep Compass (-14.1%) is down six to #10. The Fiat Pulse makes its first appearance in the Brazilian charts at #23 with 1.4% share, it is the 2nd most popular recent launch below the Toyota Corolla Cross (#18) and above the Jeep Commander (#40), Chery Tiggo 8 (#42) and VW Taos (#43).
