Yemen January-August 2021: Toyota up to 94.6% share, sales up 45.2%
The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in Yemen so far in 2021.
New car sales in Yemen are up 45.2% year-on-year over the first 8 months of 2021 at 5.926 units vs. 4.080 over the same period in 2020. Compared to the first four months of the year, Toyota improves its market share from 93.2% to 94.6% thanks to over 5.600 sales. Land Rover follows again but drops to 2.1% share, distancing Lexus at 1.3% while Suzuki overtakes Hyundai to rank #4 overall. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux easily holds the top spot with 46.5% share above the Toyota Land Cruiser SW at 21.4%, the Land Cruiser Pickup at 17% and the Fortuner at 4.1%. Below the Prado, the Lexus LX is the best-selling non-Toyota in the country at 1.1% share ahead of the Land Rover Defender.
