Israel May 2021: Nissan, Mazda shine, Tesla up to #12 in market up 25.4% on two years ago

Thanks to our partner cartube.co.il, we can share with you today Israeli brands data for Israel, models data is a quarterly occurrence. New car sales in the country are up 159% year-on-year in May to 26.800 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 55.1% to 152.079. More significantly, the Israeli market is up 25.4% on two years ago in May 2019 before the pandemic hit. All evolutions below are vs. May 2019. The Top 3 brands are shy: Hyundai (+9.4%) remains the best-seller while both Toyota (-9.8%) and Kia (-1.6%) are down vs. two years ago. Skoda (+75.1%) is in great shape in 4th place while Nissan (+140%) posts the largest gain in the Top 10 and rounds out a Top 5 unchanged on last month. Mazda (+115.4%) and Peugeot (+103.3%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while Seat (+25.1%) matches the market. Below, Tesla surges from no sales in April directly to a record #12 with 3% share, marking the start of a potentially very successful campaign in an EV-friendly market. Among other newcomers, Cupra is down two spots on April to #25 and Aiways is up five to #33.
