United Arab Emirates January-April 2021: Toyota Land Cruiser topples Nissan Patrol in market up 12.2%
The Toyota Land Cruiser is the best-selling vehicle in the UAE so far in 2021.
Emirati new car sales are up 12.2% year-on-year over the first four months of 2021 to 59.502 vs. 53.045 a year ago. The market is fragmenting slightly over the period with the Top 2 carmakers holding 52.2% share vs. 55.4% over the Full Year 2020. Toyota drops from 34.1% to 31.8% share and Nissan falls from 21.3% to 20.4%. In an unchanged Top 5, Mitsubishi improves to 9.5% share, Kia to 4.1% and Lexus is down to 3.4%. Outstanding performance by Suzuki up 8 spots on its FY2020 ranking to #6 while GMC is up 6 ranks to #10. Chinese MG (#20) and Changan (#23) are only moderately successful here, with Great Wall (#32) and Haval (#33) each only holding 0.1% of the market.
Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Land Cruiser topples the Nissan Patrol at 8.1% share vs. 7.4%, while the Toyota Hilux and Nissan Sunny remain at #3 and #4 respectively. The Mitsubishi Attrage is up six spots on its FY2020 ranking to round out the Top 5 ahead of the Toyota Prado and Hiace. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup remains at #8, the Mitsubishi Pajero is down four ranks to #9 and the Toyota Camry is down three to #10. Notice also the Suzuki Swift Dzire up 55 spots to #15, the GMC Sierra up 14 to #17, the Nissan X-Terra up 109 to #23 and the Mitsubishi Montero Sport up 35 to #24.
